Studio portrait of four members of the 11th Battalion. Identified back row, left to right: Sergeant Albert Roy Retchford, killed in action in France on 3 June 1918 and posthumously awarded the Military Cross on 22 June 1918; and Lance Corporal James "Jock" Durward. Front row, left to right: 435 Private Norman Francis "Splinter" Stanley, died of wounds in France on 2 August 1916, aged 21; and Private Edwin Stanley Inman, later awarded the Military Cross on 19 November 1917.
