Identified back row, from left: Lieutenant (Lt) Sutherland, Lt Mackay, Lt Beasley, Lt McMaugh, Lt McCoy, Lt Piper, Lt Baird, Lt Sheppard, Lt Mattes, Lt McDougall, Lt Newell. Centre: Captain (Capt) Henderson, Lt Muirhead, QX6535 Capt Sydney McKenzie, Capt Rowe, Lt Smith, Capt Battray, Lt Whitworth, Lt Morris, Lt Jiles, Capt Campbell, Lt De Daunton, Lt Gould, Capt Oakhill, Lt Miller, Lt Robertson, Capt Hayes. Front row: Padre Thomas, Capt James, Major (Maj) Jackson, Maj Byrne, Lieutenant-Colonel Robson, Capt Hurrell, Maj Hall, Capt Webster, Padre Bedding. Capt McKenzie of Killara, New South Wales, enlisted in the army in December 1939, and spend most of the war as an NCO with the 2/31st Battalion. He was discharged from the army on 20 July 1945, and died of disease on 27 January 1946. Some of the officers saw service in the Middle East during the invasion of Syria in 1941, as evidenced by the ribbon for the Africa Star seen above the left breast pocket of many of the men depicted in the image.
