Description
Collection relating to the the Second World War service of NX31913 Private (Pte) Robert Albert Gray who served at the 5th Australian General Hospital in Greece. He was captured on 27 April 1941 after the hospital staff were ordered to remain behind to treat wounded allied prisoners of war (POW) following the evacuation. After remaining in Greece for eight months he was transferred to Stammlager XXA camp at Thorn, Poland. Comprises 22 items consisting of original letters, envelopes, POW lettergrams and one airgraph all written by Pte Gray during 1940 to 1943 to his sister, Alice. Also includes one POW lettergram written by Pte Gray to 'Mary'. See also related Private Records Collection PR05067.
