Studio portrait of 384 (later 384C) Private (Pte) John Angus (Jackie) McAulay, 22nd Company, Machine Gun Corps, of Chatsworth Island, Clarence River, NSW. A school teacher at Bonshaw, NSW, prior to enlistment, he embarked from Melbourne on 19 September 1916 with the 5th Reinforcements, 13th Machine Gun Company on HMAT Commonwealth (A73). On 19 April 1917, Pte McAulay was killed in action in France, aged 20.
