Studio portrait of 2568 Private Frederick Oswald Creek, 13th (later 45th) Battalion, of Marrickville, NSW. Son of Edward James and Annie Creek. A tramway tester prior to enlisting, he embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Runic (A54) on 9 August 1915. He was killed in action in France on 7 August 1916, aged 20. He has no known grave and is remembered with honour on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, France.
