Studio portrait of 5397 Private Arthur Alfred Harold Luby, 3rd (later 55th) Battalion, of Surrey Hills, Sydney, NSW. Son of Mrs L Deborah Luby. A jockey prior to enlisting, he embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Ceramic (A40) on 14 April 1916. He died at the 1st Australian Casualty Clearing Station, France, on 1 September 1916 of accidentally self inflicted wounds on 18 August 1916, aged 20. He is buried in Estaires Communal Cemetery, France.
