Studio portrait of 2333 Private (Pte) Horace David Hunter, 4th Reinforcements, 31st Battalion (later 8th Light Trench Mortar Battery), of Raymond Terrace, NSW. A motor mechanic and driver prior to enlistment he embarked with the 31st Battalion from Melbourne on HMAT Anchises on 14 March 1916. On 8 September 1916 he was taken on strength with the 8th Light Trench Mortar Battery. Pte Hunter was killed in action on 3 May 1917 in France during fighting at Bullecourt. He was aged 21 years
