Studio portrait of 2667 Private Frederick William Johnson, 19th Battalion, of Parramatta, NSW. Son of William and Rebecca Johnson. A labourer prior to enlisting, he embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Euripides (A14) on 2 November 1915. In Egypt, he was transferred to the 4th Battalion and was killed in action on 24 July 1916 in France, aged 37. He has no known grave and is remembered with honour on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, France.
