Studio portrait of 3015 Sapper (Spr) Edward Clayfield, 5th Field Company Engineers. An architect from Trafalgar, Vic prior to enlistment, Spr Clayfield embarked from Melbourne on HMAT Ceramic on 24 November 1915. On 25 July 1916 he was killed in action at Pozieres, France, aged 33, and is commemorated on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial.
