After a brief contact with a single Viet Cong (VC) fighter along a jungle trail in Phuoc Tuy Province, an unidentified patrol leader (holding radio handset, left) of 6th Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (6RAR), anxiously waits for reports from his forward troops before calling in the contact and possibly requesting artillery support on the AN/PRC 25 wireless set, which is being carried by his signaller, lying next to him (partially visible, right). Two other Australians are lying prone further up the trail and a third man (background) appears to be kneeling. The VC was pursued by the leading elements of the patrol group and was shot dead. Artillery support was not called. A Mosin Nagant Model 1944 rifle was recovered and one anti personnel mine was deactivated.
