Back Them up - Buy War Savings Certificates

This poster relates to the war savings programs that were established by the Commonwealth Government to support war expenditure. The text "BACK THEM UP-buy WAR SAVINGS CERTIFICATES" is spread across the top and bottom of the poster in bold text. In the midsection of the poster three Hawker Demon bi-planes are represented as flying in a slightly downwards direction. An Australian RAAF officer in uniform is seen from the waste up, and he fills the lower right of the poster. We see him in profile and he looks to the left, which is the same direction the bi-planes are also flying, but his gaze cuts across the direction of the aircraft. Both images are collaged together from different photographs and are reproduced in sepia colours on a cream ground.
