Studio portrait of 428 Private Herbert Lionel Ingle Finch, 11th Battalion of Fremantle, WA. A bank clerk prior to enlisting, he embarked from Fremantle aboard HMAT Ascanius (A11) on 2 November 1914. He was wounded in action at the Dardanelles, Turkey and died of his wounds on 28 April 1915, aged 30. He has no known grave and is remembered with honour on the Lone Pine Memorial, Gallipoli, Turkey
