Studio portrait of 2nd Lieutenant (later Lieutenant) William James Munro Edwards, 1st Australian Light Horse Regiment of Ashfield, NSW. A station manager prior to enlisting, he embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Armadale (A26) on 21 March 1916. He was killed in action near Beersheba, Palestine on 3 November 1917, aged 26. He is buried in the Beersheba War Cemetery, Israel.
