Pre enlistment studio portrait of 474 Private (later Lance Corporal) Gerald Calcutt, 7th Battalion of Williamstown, Victoria. A bank clerk prior to enlistment, he embarked from Melbourne aboard HMAT Hororata (A20) on 19 October 1914. He was killed in action at Gallipoli, Turkey on 24 May 1915, aged 25. He has no known grave and is remembered with honour on the Lone Pine Memorial, Gallipoli, Turkey.
