Dark blue felt hat : Adult Guider, Girl Guides, Australia
Description
Dark blue fur felt broad brimmed hat with high flat crown and a dark blue grosgrian band with pleated cockade on the proper left side. Pinned to the base of the cockade is a red and green enamelled bronze badge showing a waratah. A grosgrain sweatband inside the hat is stamped in silver 'MADE FROM/ LANA FELT/ REGD/ WOOL FELT/ HOOD'.
History / Summary
Worn by a Guider (adult) of Girl Guides. Usually known as a Captain, she was the leader of a Guides unit of girls aged 11 to 16 years old. The waratah badge attached to the hat's cockade indicates the state of New South Wales.
