Studio portrait of 2779 Private Frederick Charles Rowland, 18th Battalion, of Gore Hill, NSW. A tool boy prior to enlisting on 11 July 1915, he embarked from Sydney, NSW, aboard HMAT Euripides on 2 November 1915. He was killed in action on 4 August 1916, in Pozieres, France, aged 19.
