Description

Man's white linen handkerchief with numerous autographs which have been over-embroidered in red, mauve, puce, green and yellow stemstich. 'KAI-ORA' is embroidered in green in one corner. History / Summary

This handkerchief was carried by QX121 W T Whitlock when he embarked with 2/3 Field Ambulance on SS Queen Mary, on 4 May 1940. It was autographed by members of 2/3 Field Ambulance, all Queenslanders, and Whitlock's aunt embroidered over the signatures when he returned to Australia in 1943.
