Description
Members of a United States force, the 1st Battalion, 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 173rd Airborne Brigade, have come across a mullah (Islamic cleric) inside a mosque in Gombad (also known as Gonbaz) village, during a search for suspected members of the Taliban. The 173rd Airborne Brigade was deployed to Afghanistan in February 2005 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, the military response to the 11 September 2001 terrorist attacks on the United States.
