Studio portrait of 2150 Private Herbert Ellis Flanagan, 55th Battalion. A labourer of Berridale NSW, he enlisted on 7 December 1915 and sailed with the 4th Reinforcements on 4 September 1916 aboard HMAT Port Sydney. He died of wounds, aged 20, on 11 April 1917 in France and is buried at Sever Cemetery Extention, Rouen.
