Christmas Greeting : Anzac 1915
Description
Small spray of six roughly circular pressed leaves picked at Gallipoli. Five of the leaves are marked in black ink with the Christmas message '1915 ANZAC'/'XMAS FROM'/'GREETINGS GALLIPOLI'/'TO BESSIE'/FROM CHARLIE'.
History / Summary
The identity of 'Charlie', the sender of the Christmas greeting, is unknown. 'Bessie' seems to have been Bessie Taylor, a member of the Methodist Church. The leaves were found in 1980, pressed between the pages of a bible in an Opportunity Shop on the Central Coast of NSW.
