Studio portrait of 1974 Corporal (Cpl) William James Longmore, Australian Machine Gun Corps, 1st Battalion, a tailor of Kalgoorlie, WA. Cpl Longmore enlisted in West Subiaco, WA, on 28 January 1915 and embarked from Fremantle, WA, with the 3rd Reinforcements, 11th Battalion, aboard HMAT Hororata on 22 April 1915. Longmore was transferred to 3rd Machine Gun Section as a lance corporal on 25 March 1916 and wounded in the shoulder at Pozieres on 28 July 1916 and spent eight months recuperating in England. He returned to France on 11 May 1917 he returned to France. He was promoted to corporal on 29 December 1917. Cpl Longmore returned from leave in England on 30 March 1918 and was killed in action in France on 24 April 1918 aged 27 years.
