Studio portrait of 1860 Corporal Edward Herbert Jones, 37th Battalion of East Brunswick, Victoria. A teacher prior to enlisting, he embarked from Melbourne aboard RMS Orontes on 16 August 1916. On 23 April 1917, he was killed in action near Armentieres, France, aged 23. He is buried in the Cite Bonjean Military Cemetery, Armentieres,, France.
