Studio portrait of 920 Lance Corporal (later Sergeant) Leo Adrian Conroy, 6th Battalion of Preston, Victoria. A school teacher prior to enlisting, he embarked from Melbourne aboard HMAT Hororata (A20) on 19 October 1914. On 23 August 1918, he was killed in action near Foucaucourt, France, aged 26. He is buried in the Heath Cemetery, Harbonnieres, France.
