Aboriginal recruits from the Lake Tyers region the day after their arrival at Caulfield Military Camp. They all enlisted on 27 June 1940 and served with the 2/23rd Battalion. Identified are: VX41832 Private (Pte) Lawrie Francis Moffatt, discharged 22 March 1941 (back row, left); VX41839 Pte Cornelius William (Con) Edwards, discharged 22 March 1941 (middle row, far right) and his son VX41840 Pte Ronald William James (Ron) Edwards, discharged 9 January 1941 (possibly middle row, third from left). Also known to be in the photograph are: VX41823 Pte James Henry Scott and his son VX41830 Pte Cyril Scott, both discharged on 22 March 1941.
