Description
Collection relating to 576 Driver James Taylor, 3 Battalion, First World War. Collection comprises two postcards from Egypt describing training, a telegram from Gallipoli and a clipping of Taylor's death notice and roll of honour for the town of Wagga where he was born. Other items include a pre-war postcard sent by Taylor and a booket of war poems dedicated to 'women whose boys have undertaken the Great Adventure' by Eleanor McKinnon.
History / Summary
The collection reflects Taylor's short career with 3 Battalion. Taylor was wounded at Gallipoli, probably during the defensive operations at ANZAC between 8 May and 30 June 1915 for which the unit was awarded a battle honour. He later died of wounds at sea.
