Description

Collection relating to the Operation Bastille and Operation Falconer service of Sergeant Jeffrey "Jeff" Trenberth, 382 Expeditionary Combat Support Squadron (ECSS), Iraq, 2003.

Wallet 1 of 1 consists of two folders. Folder 1 includes nine official communications from Australian Defence Force (ADF) personnel to family members of service personnel deployed to Iraq on Operations Bastille and Falconer. The authors of the letters include General Peter Cosgrove, Air Marshal Allan Houston, and Rear Admiral Brian Adams among others, and offer their support to family members of those serving in the Middle East Area of Operations. This wallet also includes five issues of 'The Sandpit', a serial produced in Iraq by RAAF members for other members of their camp, as well as family back at home.

Folder 2 contains 14 printed emails between Sergeant Trenberth and his father. In the emails Sergeant Trenberth writes about visiting Baghdad, the facilities on base, and visits by General Peter Cosgrove, Chief of Air Force Angus Houston, and Prime Minister John Howard. He discusses taking photographs with visiting politicians and ADF personnel with a stuffed kangaroo toy named "Fluffy".
