Studio portrait of 2897 Private (Pte) Stephen Henry Elphick, 55th Battalion, of Tumut, NSW. Pte Elphick, was a linesman prior to enlistment on 13 July 1916 and embarked aboard HMAT Ascanius on 25 October 1916 from Sydney. He died of Bronchopneumonis on 1 February 1917 in Wiltshire, England aged 23 years.
