History / Summary

The diary covers Lewis Stone's time at sea and in Adelaide on transport duties. The letter written to Stone's father, ten pages long, gives a vivid account of Stone's travels in Palestine and Syria. Stone visited Jerusalem, Bethlehem, the Transjordan, the Jerusalem Jericho Area and Damascus. Stone describes many sites of Biblical importance, including the Nativity Church in Bethlehem and the Garden of Gethsemane. The report, entitled "Report on the Activities of IRVS at TEK", details transport activities that had taken place up to September 1942 in Palestine and Egypt.
