Description
Collection relating to the service of VX144350 Corporal Roy Hooton, 3 Division Provost Company, Australian Army, 1943-1945. Collection consists of a letter written by Masaji Simabukuro, thought to be a Japanese POW in Australia, to Roy Hooton towards the end of the Second World War. Masaji Simabukuro was a school teacher before the war and in the letter he expresses his thoughts regarding the both Japanese government and the Japanese people's view of the war and what surrender would mean to them.
