Model 1866 Boots: German Infantry
Description
German leather infantry Model 1866 jackboots, with zinc plated hobnails driven into the soles, and steel reinforced heel.
History / Summary
In 1910 the German army replaced its brightly-coloured uniforms with grey ones. This is part of a uniform of a non-commissioned infantry officer. The equipment includes a haversack for rations, a water-bottle, ammunition pouches, and a gas mask and container. From 1916 a steel helmet gradually replaced the ornate Pickelhaube or spikes helmet.
