Description

Short sleeved jungle green 'Aertex' cotton shirt. The shirt is closed by five green plastic buttons, with a sixth button to fasten the collar. Shoulder straps are also secured by green plastic buttons. The sleeves have no cuffs. Each carries a cloth formation patch below the shoulder. On the right is a printed cotton patch featuring a winged shield on a light and dark blue background, the badge of HQ Far East Land Forces (FARELF). The left sleeve carries an embroidered 'AUSTRALIAN MILITARY FORCES' Rising Sun badge in gold, red and black cotton on an olive green background. There are two pleated patch breast pockets, each with a three pointed flap secured by a green plastic button and a pair of chromed press-studs. The shirt has been heavily starched.

History / Summary

Associated with the service of 21729 Keith Patrick Ross Carey. Carey was born in 1927, and graduated from Staff College in 1953. He attended the School of Signals, and served in a variety of signals units during the late 1950s and early 60s. As a major, between February 1963 and December 1964 he served as Deputy Assistant Adjutant General (DAAG) to Headquarters, Australian Army Force, Far East Land Forces (FARELF). Between October 1967 and November 1968, he served with Headquarters, Australian Force Vietnam. Keith Carey retired from the Army in the mid 1970s with the rank of lieutenant colonel.
