Collection relating to the International Peace Monitoring Team (IPMT) service of Jeremy Martyn Dore, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), Solomon Islands, 2001.

Wallet 1 of 1 - Collection consists of typed and often detailed diary entries maintained by Dore during his deployment to the Solomon Islands as a civilian observer with the IPMT from 28 August to 11 December 2001. He writes of his arrival in the Solomon Islands, familiarisation training, interactions with the local community, patrols, recreation, living conditions, and the day to day activities of the operation. He also writes of his reaction to the news of the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Centre (9/11) in September 2001, patrol operations along the coast by HMAS Canberra (1978-2005), the role of the IPMT, tropical illness, the arrival of officials from the United Nations Development Program, his movements around the Solomon Islands, the impact of and local reaction to mining operations, an increase in the stockpiling of weapons and gun violence, and Operation Liberty, the IPMT's plan to support the Solomon Islands general election in December 2001.
