Description

Group portrait of members of the 13th Field Company, Australian Engineers. Identified is 3144 Sapper Arthur Nameby Shuttleworth, back row, fourth from the left. He was educated at Prince Alfred College in Adelaide and was a civil servant prior to enlistment mid 1915. He left Australia on the transport HMAT Ballarat in September 1915 and fought at Pozieres, Bapaume, Mouquet Farm, Bullecourt and Passchendaele. Shuttleworth died of pneumonia on 26 October 1918, aged 23 years, whilst on leave.
