Description
Collection relating to 471 Sergeant George Rowden, 6 Battalion, 1915. It comprises a copy of a letter originally written by Rowden in 1915 to his parents while he was recovering in Cairo after being evacuated from Gallipoli due to being wounded during the Gallipoli landing on 25 April. Rowden describes the landing, being shot, his evacuation and treatment on the hospital ship Gascon and at the hospital in Cairo.
