Description
Studio portrait of 1135 Private (Pte) Sydney George Bishop, D Company, 37th Battalion, of Maffra, Vic. A driver prior to enlisting on 22 February 1916, Pte Bishop embarked from Melbourne aboard HMAT Persic on 3 June 1916. He was later transferred to the 60th Battalion, and was killed in action on 27 November 1916, in France, aged 20 years. Note the unique Australian bush scene backdrop in the photograph.
