Studio portrait of 3721 Private (Pte) Robert Courtney, 12th Reinforcements, 13th Battalion, a shipwright of North Sydney, NSW. Pte Courtney enlisted on 20 August 1915 and embarked on HMAT Suevic from Sydney on 20 December 1915 for service overseas. Pte Robert Courtney was killed in France, on 11 August 1916, aged 24 years. His younger brother 6541 Pte Raymond Courtney was also killed in France, in August 1918.
