Description
Aerial view of islands between Guadalcanal and Malaita, taken from an Australian Army UH-1H helicopter. The helicopter was deployed under Operation Anode, Australia's military and policing contribution to the multi-national Regional Assistance Mission to the Solomon Islands (RAMSI). Helicopters were extensively used to transport personnel and equipment between the different parts of the Solomon Islands, and especially of servicing the police posts established in troubled regions, including the northern part of the island of Malaita, which had experienced significant violence and intimidation by armed militant groups, prior to the RAMSI intervention.
