Description
Informal group portrait of five young soldiers. Identified on the left is: 12903 Gunner (Gnr) Claude Richardson, 2nd Division Trench Mortar Battery, of Tamworth, NSW, and second from left is Fred Mullane. Gnr Richardson enlisted on 6 September 1915. He was killed in action on 3 May 1917 at Bullecourt, aged 21 years. He is buried at France 646 Queant Road Cemetery Buissy. This lantern slide is one of a series of images of soldiers from the district who enlisted and served overseas. The slides were probably displayed at the Tamworth Cinema between features. Some of the slides have been annotated with information about the person pictured.
