Description
Studio portrait of three soldiers wearing greatcoats. Identified from left to right: 29920 Private (Pte) Oscar Edward Leo Bennetto, later 120th Howitzer Battery; 3988 Pte Jay Allard West, and, believed to be 5732 Pte John Bariston Jones, 12th Battalion. Pte West was later killed in action on 5 September 1916. Pte Jones was later killed in action on 30 June 1918. The soldiers had possibly met whilst attending Signalling School at Broadmeadows camp.
