Description

An aerial view of the refugee camp at Kibeho, administered by the second United Nations Assistance Mission for Rwanda (UNAMIR II), the camp at one time held an estimated 120,000 Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) fleeing the genocide of the civil war between Rwanda's two tribal groups, the Tutsi and Hutu. A large crowd of refugees have gathered among the buildings seeking shelter from soldiers of the Rwandan Patriotic Army (RPA) who are trying to force them to return to their homes. A brutal massacre by soldiers of the RPA that followed left over 2,000 dead and an even large number of wounded and injured.
