Cap : US Coast Guard Cutter Wrangell
Navy blue wool and polyester baseball-style cap machine embroidered in golden cotton with the words 'USCGC WRANGELL WPB 1332'.
Worn by crewmembers of the US Coast Guard Cutter (USCGC) 'Wrangell' WPB1332. The 'Wrangell', a 110 foot patrol boat based at South Portland, Maine, initially participated in interceptions as part of the Maritime Interception Operations (MIO) force in the Gulf, enforcing United Nations sanctions against Iraq. When the war with Iraq commenced, these operations continued, expanding to prevent the movement of Iraqi military forces, supplies or equipment, as well as encompassing port, harbour and waterway security duties. In addition, the Wrangell was assigned to the protection of British minesweepers clearing the entrance to the harbour at Umm Qasr.
