Cap : US Coast Guard Cutter Aquidneck
Navy blue wool and polyester baseball-style cap machine embroidered in golden cotton with the words 'USCGC AQUIDNECK WPB-1309'. Glued to the brim of the cap are patterns of machine embroidered gold oak leaves and acorns.
Worn by a crew member of the US Coast Guard Cutter (USCGC) 'Aquidneck' WPB1309. The 'Aquidneck', a 110 foot patrol boat, based at Atlantic Beach, North Carolina, initially participated in interceptions as part of the Maritime Interception Operations (MIO) force in the Gulf, enforcing United Nations sanctions against Iraq. When the war with Iraq commenced, these operations continued, expanding to prevent the movement of Iraqi military forces, supplies or equipment, as well as encompassing port, harbour and waterway security duties.
