Description
Studio portrait of 3497 Private (Pte) Cecil Collins (Charles) Smith, 11th Reinforcements, 14th Battalion. of Chelsea, Vic. Pte Smith enlisted on 17 July 1915 and embarked from Melbourne aboard HMAT Nestor on 11 October 1915. He was killed in action on 8 August 1916 at Mouquet Farm, France. His brother, Pte Hugh H Smith, 5th Battalion, was killed on the Gallipoli Peninsula.
