Group portrait of 25 airmen, posed in front of an Avro Anson Mk 1 aircraft. Most of those identified enlisted with the Royal Australian Air Force on 22 May 1942 and served overseas with the Royal Air Force (RAF). The portrait was most likely taken while they were undergoing training in Canada with the Empire Air Training Scheme (EATS). Identified from left to right (back row): 422414 Ivan Chapple from Bega, NSW, who was killed during operations with 463 Squadron RAF on 10 May 1944 and is commemorated in Hellemmes-Lille Communal Cemetery in northern France; C E Murphy; Jack Denham; 422477 Flight Sergeant James Wharton Severn Fisher from Fivedock, NSW (lost on operations over Italy on 16 March 1944).
