Description

During the Second World War Chalker saw service with the Royal Field Artillery. He was captured at the fall of Singapore and sent to Thailand to work on construction of the Burma-Thailand railway. Chalker secretly made drawings of the various camps and conditions endured by the prisoners, and was later asked by Lieutenant Colonel Edward “Weary” Dunlop to make secret records of the prisoners’ medical conditions.
