Group portrait of seven officers of the 2nd Field Ambulance at Mena Camp near Cairo, two of them smoking pipes. One of the pyramids can be seen in the background. The officers subsequently served on the Gallipoli Peninsula. Identified from left to right (back row): Major Charles Gordon Shaw; Captain Roy William Chambers; Captain Christopher Norman Matheson; Major William Weston Hearne, who was awarded the DSO in 1917 and was later killed in action on the Western Front on 17 October 1917. Front row: Captain Andrew Victor Honman, who died on the Western Front on 20 May 1917 after being gassed; Lieutenant Colonel Alfred Hobart Sturdee; Captain Charles Morley, Quartermaster.
