Gunter, Arthur Charles (Sergeant)
Description
Collection relating to the service of Sergeant Arthur Charles Gunter, 3 Battery, 1 AFA Brigade, Gallipoli. Collection consists of a small 1915 diary in which Gunter made daily entries from 5 April 1915 to 29 October 1915, as well as several random entries and some notations concerning his pay .
History / Summary
Sergeant Gunter's diary gives a concise day-by-day account of his activities on and around Cape Helles from April to October 1915. Since his experience of Gallipoli is necessarily entwined with that of the British and French forces, this diary reflects an Australian perspective on an aspect of the Gallipoli campaign not usually associated with Australian troops.
