PORT MORESBY, NEW GUINEA. 1942-04-12. SERVICE PERSONNEL OF THE RABAUL GARRISON AND CIVILIANS FROM NEW BRITAIN CROWD THE RAILS OF THE HMAS "LAURABADA" AS THE SHIP DRAWS INTO THE WHARF. THE EVACUEES, WHO HAD TAKEN TO THE JUNGLE AFTER THE LANDING OF THE JAPANESE ON THE 1942-01-23, WERE PICKED UP AT PALMALMAL, A PRE- ARRANGED RENDEZVOUS ON THE SOUTH COAST OF NEW BRITAIN.
